RVP commissioned Leger to conduct a survey of Quebec fathers who separated in the past 10 years to gain a better understanding of how the separation unfolds, its repercussions, and how fathers value their role during the process. Of the 574 fathers residing in Quebec surveyed, 377 separated within the past five years and 197 separated six to 10 years ago. The results were weighted by age, region, mother tongue, and residence status (owner or tenant) to make them representative of the study population.
The survey questionnaire was developed by RVP, in collaboration with members of the Comité de travail national sur les pères et la séparation conjugale.
